Gor Mahia ‘kava’ plan touted to boost the champions.

Teams participating in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) will be implored to insure players with reputable Insurance firms starting from next season [2018].

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has backed the moved and insisted on the need to insure players adding that by doing so, they will avoid incurring financial stress and also protect their family from further agony.

He cited Gor Mahia defender Karim Nzigiyimana who is currently walking on crutches saying that if the player who was injured few weeks ago in Thika had insurance cover, the situation could have been arrested effectively.

Rachier made the comments after the club entered into a partnership with Liberty Life Assurance dubbed “Gor Kava plan” at a Nairobi Hotel. In the new arrangement that gets underway immediately, the cover will include Gor Mahia entire fraternity including player’s, technical bench and members of the public at an affordable fee.The arrangement covers spouse, Children, parents and even parents in law.

Gor Kava plan, according to Liberty Life Assurance Chief Executive officer (CEO) Abel Munda covers up to those with 90 years. The club had started a similar arrangement with Chase Bank a few years ago that flopped after the latter went under receivership.

-Gor Mahia has a large fan base which we want to capitalize. In the unfortunate demise of somebody who has insured with Liberty Life Assurance, we are always available for the hour of need. We operate in 18 countries. We have a cover for those with 70 years like club Chairman Ambrose Rachier, he said amid laughter from those in attendance.

Sam Ocholla who is the CEO for Tentacle communication, a sister firm to Liberty Assurance said as little as Ksh 2000, one is entitled to get a cover of over Ksh 100,000. Ocholla said his firm in partnership with Liberty Life has developed the Champions plan which provides an individual with his /her family peace of mind and financial freedom during this difficult times.

-It is almost impossible to protect your family from the emotional pain of losing a loved one, but the Champions protector plan will provide financial freedom when you and your family need it most, Ocholla said.

The loss of a loved one, he added, can cause emotional stress to the family members left behind and with a high cost of making funeral arrangements, it can quickly become a financial nightmare. But with Gor Kava plan, he assured that there will be no further worries.

He lauded Gor Mahia for winning the just ended KPL and promised to support them as they venture into the lucrative Africa continental matches.
