In a deal signed at State House yesterday Governor Mike Sonko and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa in concurrence with President Uhuru Kenyatta agreed to ensure Nairobi residents receive services efficiently.
The statement by State House spokesperson Kanze Dena further stated that the National Government now takes over Health, Transport, Public Works and Planning and Development services
There has been a crisis at City Hall after Sonko was barred from office by a court last year following his arrest over a Sh357 million graft case.
The move by the National Government to take charge of the City leaves troubled Mike Sonko in a quagmire considering he is battling a corruption case in court while an impeachment motion against him is gathering steam in the Nairobi County Assembly.
Last week Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok tabled a notice to impeach Sonko and accused the governor of corruption and violation of the Constitution.
Yesterday, County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi gave Sonko up to Monday at 10.00 am to submit written replies to the allegations raised in the notice of motion on impeachment.
Members of the public have also been requested to submit written memoranda regarding the matter.
