Kenya Airways makes history as it lands in New York, USA .

On Sunday Kenya Airways plane Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for New York City in a historic Kenya Airways maiden direct flight to the United States.The plane departed from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 1045pm on Sunday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta led senior government officials who arrived at the airport to flag off the inaugural direct flight from Kenya to the US.

The 15-hour flight will cut short the long hours spent by passengers in different continents to catch a connecting flight to United States of America.Kenya Airways (KQ) becomes the fifth carrier in Africa to make direct flights to the US including Ethiopian Airlines, South African Airlines, Egypt Air and Senegal Airlines.

The daily flights to New York’s JF Kennedy International Airport are expected to boost the national carrier revenues as well as increase local industry exports to the American market and promote tourism .
