Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has directed County Executive Committee Member for trade to ensure every market has a hand washing tanks.
This is after Diri Enterprises, dealers in alcoholic and non alcoholic products donated 90 tanks, each carrying 50 litres of water to the county.
Nyong’o says the donation will go a long way of helping the county to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
He says the hand washing tanks will be distributed evenly in the markets to help traders.
“We don’t want them to grow legs, we want them to stay in the markets where they can be used for a good course,” he said.
The Governor says the pandemic has ravaged nations globally.
He says the county through the national government has engaged the youth in preserving the environment.
Eng Charles Ochome, a board member of Kisumu City Board who midwifed the donation by Diri says there is need for a concerted effort to firmly deal with the virus.
“We have talked to a few of our friends to join us in the fight against this virus,” he said.
Ochome says he will continue to reach out to friends and business collegues to donate in the county kitty.
