Farmers in Ragana,Kadika,Ntaburo,Nyamosense and Mabera villages in Migori County risk losing their produce after army worms invaded their farms.
The farmers led by Benjamin Wayaki said that their farms have been reduced and destroyed to nothing by the worms that have eaten maize, sorghum, millet and pasture for the last one week.
The farmers said that effort to reach the concerned authorities at the county offices have born no fruits as most officers have focused on the general elections campaigns.
He added that the farmers have used a lot of money and resources to plant and maintain their farms but the worms have wiped all the produce in a span of one week.
Mary Asiago another farmer said that they have made a lot of efforts to make sure that they produce food for their families but the worms have reduced them to zero in a few days.
The farmers want the agricultural extension officers to help them wipe out the army worms that have destroyed large tracks of land and risk destroying more if urgent actions are not taken on time.
