Consortium of Researchers on Governance – CoRG AFRICA releases the CountySpeak key issues and respective top-five 2022 gubernatorial aspirants in the 6 Counties within Coast Region; Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta

The survey evaluated the Manifesto / key local issues, County political dynamics,coalition, party affiliations, Past voting trend, Top five gubernatorial aspirants, Campaign
Due to the nature of the survey, separate multi-stage sampling was adopted, with the Ward being the
Primary Sampling Unit. A total of 3,600 respondents were targeted (600 per County), and 2,990 were interviewed, the sample size projected to have a 95% confidence level and a +/-3 % margin of error.

It conducted a county-based survey from 11th to 30th March 2022 of the key issues and respective top-five 2022 gubernatorial aspirants in the 6 Counties within Coast Region; Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta.
Mvita Mp Abdullswamad Nassir topped in Mombasa at 42.5% while Chai Lung’anzi was first in Kwale county at 45.2%.
In Kilifi Gideon Mung’aro is the most preferred candidate at 57.9%, Issa Timamy shone in Lamu at 35.2% while in Taita Taveta Dan Mwazo took lead in the polls.
The research was carried out last month before One Kenya Alliance joined the Azimio la Umoja coalition and still the Azimio La Umoja coalition was the most popular party in the coast.
According to the CoRG director Charles MC’Olonde, the nature of the survey was adopted with the Ward being the Primary Sampling Unit.
