Dairy goats for Kisumu farmers


Kisumu County Government has distributed 220 dairy goats to farmers worth Sh. 5 million in readiness for post COVID-19 pandemic.

The County Governor Anyang Nyong’o says his administration is putting in measures to cushion locals in the post pandemic that has ravaged many nations globally.

Nyong’o says Council of Governors (CoG) has come up with plans to ensure every sub county has sufficient food for its people.

Speaking in Kisumu at Mamboleo show grounds when he gave out the dairy goats, Nyong’o says sub counties must be ready through support to produce enough food for consumption and to the market.

He says the county has potential in dairy farming and promised that his administration will offer support to the farmers.

Nyong’o says already farmers in Muhoroni are carrying out a dairy project where they are producing 5,000 liters of milk daily.

He called upon farmers to be ready to embrace value addition to fetch more money from their produce.

Each of the 7 sub counties received dairy goats.
