Central Alego MCA Leonard Oriaro has scolded government plans to lease state owned sugar mills.

Oriaro says farmers will continue to suffer as usual calling for the sugar sector to be domiciled in the county governments.

Oriaro says farmers gave big chunks of farm land for nuclear farms and farmers are bound to lose the parcel of lands.

He says the government had good plans to put the factories in parastatals and fund them to produce sugar.

The MCA who was speaking in Kisumu County, Seme Sub County during the burial of Mwalimu Odindo who taught in Chemelil says farmers should retain their land as the national government continues to support the sector through the counties.

Oriaro further touched on the ongoing politics in the country claiming that the letter that was written by Senator Irungu Kangata had the blessings of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He says the people of Luo Nyanza must be behind ODM party leader Raila Odinga in his final quest to be the next president of the country or else he will be short charged.

Oriaro called upon the council of elders, the church and politicians to stop dragging the name of Raila in the coming 2022 elections but instead help him achieve his ambition.
