Well wishers especially business community in Kisumu County has been asked to contribute in cash and kind to the county kitty to address effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
The County Deputy Governor Mathews Owili says the number county residents are staring at hunger as a result of Corona virus.
Owili says the number of affected families continues to grow day by day and the county must put in place measures to deal with the outcome.
He says a number of businesses were affected by the pandemic that led to curfew and partial lockdown in some parts of the country.
Speaking at Lumumba hospital where the county received a donation of 30 beds for an Iron company, Owili says the county has mapped out vulnerable groups in the county who shall receive the donations.
He stressed to the people of Kisumu that Corona virus is real and should be taken seriously.
Owili says there should not be laxity in Kisumu since the county has not recorded any case.
He says the directives issued by the ministry of health should be
adhered to as a measure to combat the spread of the virus.
