| Deputy President William Ruto is set to pitch camp in Nyanza this week to woo the region to back his 2022 State House bid.
The DP is in a daring move taking his hustler movement campaigns to three Luo Nyanza counties in what is seen as an attempt to go against the fear of the tribe that has scared off politicians from campaigning in some regions.
Ruto has planned a series of activities in Kisumu, Migori and Homa Bay. Kuria West MP Mathias Robi said Ruto is the Deputy President of Kenya and is free to visit any part of the country and initiate any developments in the country.
He said that Ruto is Kenyan and those people who support his ideologies will attend the meetings. Robi said the DP will land in Kisumu on Tuesday evening where he is expected to host leaders and professionals from Nyanza who have been crafting the region’s blueprint for a meeting.
On Wednesday, his entourage will traverse the lakeside city to the famous Kondele market where he will address a public rally.
From Kisumu, the DP will land in Migori County where he will preside over youth and women empowerment programmes as well as address several rallies.
On Thursday, he will crisscross Homa Bay County with a similar agenda of youth and women’s empowerment and marketing his bottom-up development plan, which he has described as revolutionary and the gateway to economic liberation.
