Flood victims promised food-By Joseph Ojwang


The national government will soon start distribution of food and non food items to hundreds of families affected by floods in Kisumu County.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa says the government will respond to cushion the public affected by the flooding that left a trail of destruction.

Sub counties of Nyando, Nyakach, Muhoroni and Kisumu East have been hard hit with over 2000 families estimated to have been affected.

Wamalwa who visited Ayweyo area in Awasi Onjiko ward, Nyando Sub County says the government has already availed enough food in the stores.

He says distribution is set to start anytime to help cushion the affected families from hunger.

The CS says the families who are still living in camps will also be given the free government hand sanitizers as a means of preventing Corona virus epidemic.

The CS says both county and national governments will help families to put up new homes that were washed away by the raging waters.

Wamalwa visited the area in the company of Governor Anyang Nyong’o and area MP Jared Okello.

The visit follows the recent outcry by the residents led by their MCA Maurice Ngeta.
