The county government of Kisumu has been told not to neglect residents of Nyalenda B ward who are greatly affected by floods.
Former area MCA James Were says the people of Nyalenda B in areas of Nanga, Dunga and Kapuothe are suffering during this rainy season.
Were says the department of special programe running emergency fund should move with speed and help the affected families.
He says floods have submerged most houses within the area and families are sleeping in the cold.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Were says families living within the slums must be cushioned from hunger as a result of floods and COVID-19 pandemic.
He says over years, the county government has neglected flood victims within the city slums as they concentrate on flood victims in Nyando and other sub counties.
Were further called upon Kenya Red Cross to move to the area and offer support in terms of food and non food items to the affected families.
The affected families have blamed elected leaders from MCA for doing nothing since freak flood struck their houses.
