Hundreds of families in Seme who have been displaced by the rising water levels in the lake have received support of food and non food items from a local NGO in Seme known as Hisani Foundation.

West Seme ward and Central Seme ward residents received the assistance since they were hard hit especially in beaches like Nyamarwaka, Asat and Kirindo.

Pastor Paul Outa who is the chairman of the foundation says their patron George Arwa Olulo mobilized the help which included foods like sugar, rice, maize and wheat flour, cooking oil amongst other items.

Outa says the locals were also handed hand washing soaps and sanitizers to help keep the COVID 19 pandemic away.

“The support is from our son, he has the people at heart. The people were suffering, lake water rising and now Corona virus,” he said.

West Seme ward MCA George Abaja applauded the initiative by Hisani foundation says those affected are in large numbers and able people like George Olulo should rise up and bring more help.

Abaja says the number is huge and called upon more well wishers to come to the rescue of those affected by the calamities.

“I want to thank Olulo for this good gesture to our people, this is commendable and should be emulated by our sons and daughters who have the capacity,” he said.

Residents who received the donations and the masks which were also given to several boda boda bases in Seme welcomed the move and called upon other well wishers to follow in the organization footsteps.

The organization has been in existence for some times addressing education, agriculture, security, health among a number of interventions in the society.
