Kisumu ASK to host AfriCities


Kisumu Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) showground in Mamboleo has been identified as the venue to host United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (AfriCities) Summit in November next year.

The County Governor Anyang Nyong’o says the showground provides the best place to host the 2021 conference that is set to run from November 16th to 20th.

Nyong’o says the county government will allocate resources to aid for the refurbishment of the ground.

He says the showground has been under utilized over years only comes alive annually during the ASK regional events.

Speaking to the press on Saturday after a tour of the showground, Nyong’o says the upgrading will soon start in preparations for the event.

He announced that areas to be addressed include roads, water, electricity and security amongst others.

Nyong’o announced that the construction to bitumen standards of Muhoroni-Chemelil-Mamboleo road will soon start as it will add impetus into the showground venue.

The ASK branch chairman George Ongudi noted that the showground is 100 acres of land which has remained under utilized.
