KIWASCO shut down Kajulu water Treatment-By Joseph Ojwang

Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) has shut down its Kajulu water treatment plant due to high turbidity in River Kibos.
KIWASCO managing director Thomas Odongo  says large number of particles that are generally invisible to the naked eyes were seen in the water.
Odongo says the plant has experienced discovery of exotic matter in the system causing coloured water.
In the recent days, residents complained of the coloured water at the household levels.
Odongo says the shut down will affect a number of families residing in Lolwe, Gudka, Airport, Mamboleo, Kibos, Tido alongside other adjacent areas.
He announced that KIWASCO team is currently working round the clock to ensure normal operations resumes.
In the meantime, as a stop gap measure, Odongo says they will be dispersing their water bowsers to the affected areas to offer free water to the families to cushion them from shortage during this period.
“We have a number of water bowsers that will be stationed in specific areas in the affected points,” he said.
