Residents of Kolwa line up to receive donations from Ken Obura Foundation.

Residents of Kolwa East and Central in Kisumu East sub county are now the latest to benefit from the ongoing distribution of free masks and food by Ken Obura Foundation.

The locals however say they want a lasting solution like dredging of rivers by elected leaders to end their suffering.

The team led by Nahashon Ngwena who is the coordinator of the foundation visited locals in Abuche, Kadwar, Alara, Orongow, Bwanda, Otera and Kunya.

The locals says the ongoing excavation going on in other sub counties should be extended to kisumu east.

Those living in camps who were given the relief items also called for assistance with mosquito nets since they are at risk of contracting diseases like malaria.

“Due to the ongoing rains, we are exposed to many diseases, some caused by mosquitoes that can be prevented if we use nets,” one of the locals said.

The foundation is still ongoing with the distribution of masks in all the 35 wards with over 12 wards already covered.

A total of 1.5 million masks were produced by tailors in Kibuye market.
