KURIA ELDERS PERFORM RITUALS ‘TO CAST AWAY’ THE GHOST OF CORONA

A section of Kuria elders have performed rituals to cast away the ghost of corona virus that has so far left several people dead globally. The elders from Bugumbe clan conducted their rituals in one of the sacred forests within Mabera, Migori county where they poured libation and offered sacrifice of traditional medicine to appease the gods to send away the virus. Bohoko Mahiri, chairman to the council of elders said the ritual is usually performed when disasters strike and a lasting solution is required. He added that despite strong ties to the gods, as a community, they shall abide by laid down policies and regulations. Titus Marwa, one of the elders added that their sacrifice was accepted an they believe that very soon the pandemic will soon be a thing of the past. The Kuria Community have extended in to the neighbouring Tanzania where the covid-19 pandemic infections are ballooning.
