Lake Region Economic Bloc chairman Governor Wycliffe Oparanya engaged in interactive sessions with Members of the County Assembly and Executive during a sensitization forum on the benefits of setting up such a bloc.

The Chairman who represented the 14 Governors from the Lake Region said the Bloc only seeks to pursue economic development and to improve the livelihoods of people by eradicating poverty.

Governors from the region met and agreed to come up with flagship projects to adopt a regional development bank to fight poverty, share resources, leverage on economies of scale and mobilize resources to support and empower farmers and small-scale traders to venture into viable entrepreneurship.

Homa Bay Deputy Governor and Assembly speaker appealed to the assembly members to look into the insights and domesticate the bloc within the structures of the county government.

County Executive and Assembly members were present during the sessions and they agreed to join the rest of the counties to exploit resources as a bloc for the benefit of the people.

The Regional bloc plans to hold joint investment conference in Bomet County where they intend to unveil a regional bank.
