Locals slam Senator

Locals in Awasi Onjiko ward in Nyando Sub County have taken issue with the County Senator Fred Outa on his recent handling of the funeral ceremony of the former Kisumu County ODM treasurer Ouma Oriare.

Led by the area MCA Maurice Ngeta, the locals feel Senator Outa went overboard to mishandle both party and county officials during the funeral held last week.

Ngeta says Outa who has since declared that he will be not contesting any position in the coming polls should focus on the presidential campaigns of ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

He says the actions of the Senator were despicable and were meant to cause tension and violence during the funeral.

Nyando Liaison officer Lawrence Micha says the Kano community has been very accommodative in politics and the action of Outa is strange to them.

Micha says as a community they should remain united and no politician should use them for their selfish gains.

Council of Elders Greater Wawidhi Enoch Odemba says the youths who accompanied Senator Outa harassed and attacked some party officials.

Odemba says they root for peace and anybody who is inciting violence will not be allowed in any gatherings within Wawidhi.

He says the shame that was meted on Deputy Governor Mathews Owili was uncalled for saying leaders must be respected at all cost.
