Migori County through County secretary Mr. Christopher Rusana has ordered all nightclubs closed for the next 30 days as a measure to prevent spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The county secretary, County Commissioner Joseph Rotich and CEC member Mrs. Isca Oluoch issued the directive on Monday, moments before three other new cases of the Covid-19 disease were confirmed by the government’s spokesperson Cirus Oguna.
In a press briefing at governor’s office, Rusana, Rotich and Oluoch said the order was with immediate effect.
The committee further suspended all public gatherings, burials and meetings including those for religious purposes.
At the Sirare border crossing and Migingo highland, the government according to Rotich will provide hand washing detergents and running water and see into sanitization for the good of the residents.
Madam Isca on her side urged those spreading unconfirmed messages over the treatment center in Nyatike to stop unnecessary attention seeking as that throws residents into panic.
Migori is among 14 counties the Health ministry placed on high alert for the virus for being points of entry or being located near points of entry.
The others are Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Kajiado, Busia, Kilifi, Kakamega, Kajiado, Nakuru, Wajir and Garissa.
