Migori County has acquired new machines that will help in the faster diagnostics and treatment of Covid-19 as cases of the virus increase within the Nyanza region.
While receiving the luminance Diagnostic machines at the county referral hospital, the CEC member of health Kephas Nyamitta said they will no longer experience delays that have been there with manual kits.
The health officer noted that there are a lot of misconceptions associated with covid testing kits which he attributed to the low turn outs at health facilities across the county.
Nyamita said unconfirmed reports of infertility, impotence and other health related complications have greatly discouraged residents from taking the covid test.
Millicent Ayugi, medical laboratory specialist at the county referral hospital said the new machine has the ability to produce results within 12 minutes and this will make it possible to test many people and contain the spread of the virus.
