Migori hospital bed stollen


Police in Kuria West Sub County are investigating two people over theft of several hospital beds from Kehancha Sub County hospital. 

Kuria West sub county police commander Mr. Cletus Kimaiyo said the duo were arrested on 8th August 2020 while carrying six hospital beds from the facility claiming that they bought them during the recent auctioning exercise in Migori County. 

The police boss said one of the locals who spotted the vehicle leaving the hospital facility carrying beds which were in good condition and informed the police before he mobilized the locals who stopped the vehicle. He said the police officers rushed to the scene and arrested the two people who claimed that they purchased the beds legally. 

The sub county police commander said the auctioneer who was involved in the recent auctioneering exercise denied auctioneering any items from  Kehancha sub county hospital. 

Mr.Kimaiyo said the matter is still in court and they are still doing further investigation to establish the truth. Before their arrest, sources indicated that two vehicles carrying un-identified items were also spotted leaving the hospital. 

The theft of hospital beds comes amid fears of increasing cases of covid positive cases and the few hospital bed in the county.
