With schools set to open in October, Migori county association of non-teaching staff have threatened to rally members to abscond duty over withheld salaries.
Through the officials, the union has said its members will not allow any of its members report to work if their demands are not met. Led by their secretary General Dan Onyuna, the non-teaching staff said that will not be intimidated to report to work.
Onyuna in a strong statement to the Ministry of education said that they will not listen to any conversation not bordering on their salaries. He added that the Ministry of education has withheld their salaries since the month march.
Chairman to the union’s secretary Maurice Odero said his members have been subjected to unnecessary suffering since the outbreak of the corona virus.
He added that most of the non-teaching staff have had their medical insurance deductions terminated and are unable to cater for their medical and other crucial bills.
