Obado, County Commissioner clash over Covid-19

Migori county governor Okoth Obado and county commissioner Mr. Boaz Cherutich have disagreed over COVID-19 regulations.

Governor Okoth Obado who was speaking at Isebania border during a stakeholder meeting attended by the county commissioner Mr. Boaz Cherutich said COVID-19 has been contained in Migori county and therefore people can walk freely without masks.

Obado indicated that he stopped using the masks and observing other COVID-19 regulations because he believes that COVID-19 has been contained in Migori.

The county commissioner Mr. Cherutich who came face to face with Obado for the first time at the same meeting took the governor head on over his COVID-19 remarks.

He urged the people of Migori County to ignore governor Obado’s advisory on COVID-19 saying that COVID-19 is still a threat and people must adhere to the COVID-19 rules.

He said he will not relent in the fight against Covid-19 despite the talks by the governor. The county commissioner was posted to Migori two months ago.
