Two suspected robbers were last night gunned down in a foiled robbery attempt at Allaxis hotel along Migori- kisii highway.
According to police officer in charge of Suna East Police division Mr. Stanley Atavachi, the duo were in the company of 6 other who had planned a robbery at the hotel when police officers intercepted them.
He says that they were challenged to surrender but instead engaged the officers in a shotout that left one police officer with gunshot wound.
The police boss said that they managed to recover an AK47 with several rounds of ammunition and a ‘rungu’.
He said they are pursuing the suspects who escaped.
This comes in the wake of increased insecurity within Migori county and its environs that have left several people nursing wounds inflicted with sharp objects.
Eye witnesses narrative of the events however painted a horrendous account of police brutality.
