Kisumu businessman Dr Joshua Oron has launched an initiative in Kisumu Central to bring back small scale business women into business after effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

Oron who is angling for the position of Kisumu Central MP in 2022 says Corona virus affected many businesses and it is time to help business people restock their businesses.

He says he will be supporting women in business in the six wards within the constituency so that they can pick from where they left.

Oron noted that business is the backbone of many families in the city and the emergence of the virus pushed many out of business.

Speaking in Kisumu when he gave out wheat flour and cooking oil to 150 women who are selling chapatais, madazis and samosas in Obunga slums, Oron says he has an elaborate plan to meet all women in trade in the Sub County.

The women who received the donation hailed the initiative saying it will boost their businesses which were adversely affected by the global virus.

Patricia Janet who sells chapattis by the roadside in Obunga says she was down and the initiative is God sent.

Janet says she will have to increase her production and fetch good profit out of her businesses.

The same sentiments were echoed by Conslata Adhiambo who says she will now take care of her family with ease.

Adhiambo says the gesture should be extended to other women selling vegetables, charcoal and other small merchandise in the city.
