Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has called for well wishers to donate cash and in kind to the kitty he had established to help the public.
Nyong’o says COVID-19 pandemic and the current flooding has left many families without any food.
He says the kitty will be reaching out to business community to help in stocking it with food or money.
Nyong’o says once the fund is ready, food will be purchased and distributed to the needy families.
Speaking at Jua Kali area, the go down where food donated are being kept, Nyong’o says the families will be given cooking oil, sugar, bar soap amongst other necessities.
He says first priority will be given to the flood victims who are currently living in different evacuation centers.
The Governor says the kitty will mobilize enough food to ensure every household is supported through the food donations.
He told the vulnerable group to wait as the food is mobilized through well-wishers, stored in the go down before they are distributed.
