Migori County Governor Okoth Obado on Monday held discussions with Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and other leaders from Sugar Cane growing regions at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu County.
The leaders agreed to unite and help iron out the challenges facing sugar factories before the closure of the COMESA window in 2019.
The Governor said the Council have identified four main policy issues which will be addressed.
1. Licensing role between the two levels of government
2. Shareholding ratio between National and County governments
3. Timeline for debt write off and bail out
4. Factory/Land ownership claims.
