The Bankers on Wednesday failed to narrow the gap on the title chase after slipping the lead on the second half. The bankers went ahead on the 23rd minutes thanks to Samuel Mwangi but they could not hold on to the leopard’s as Elvis Rupia came to the rescue. The Bankers will have to decide their fate late this week though the Brewers feel very confident that it already sealed.
On the other hand, the Brewers had a better chance to capitalize their lead and clinch the title on a silver platter but they were forced to settle for a barren draw against Nzoia Sugar. The bankers will have to pray that the Breweries lose their game against bidco on the final day of the league.
Western Stima fate was sealed as Wazito’s Eric Otieno struck on the 76th minute to ensure that Stima is relegated and has nothing to play for on the final day. Vihiga ended their league with an assurance of getting to the promotion play offs. Vihiga came from a goal down to get a much deserved win against Kakamega Homeboys at the Bhukungu stadium. Homeboys brew their 15th minute lead by letting Vihiga score twice before half-time and restore their hopes of playing in the league.
The final day of the league will be an encounter to end a four years’ dominance by the Kenya most successful team K’ogalo and in any case help Tusker get their 12th tittle in place. The former champions are on 6th place tied with Nairobi City Stars. K’ogalo on the contrary have nothing to play for because it guaranteed that they will not be representing the country on the CAF games. K’ogalo have had a rough run probably their worst in a decade as it fandom is fuming at the management.
The bankers will have to decide their fate earlier as they are set to play on Sunday and await their rivals Tusker to seal it next Saturday. The Bankers will play Nairobi city stars on Saturday evening and have to get a high margin goals to ensure they have a chance to create a final day drama as Tusker will be facing Bidco united. Anything less than a win on Saturday, will gift the Breweries the tittle before going to the next match.
