The Portuguese multinational also plans to inject an additional $1M in technological skills transfer program. Speaking during the launch of the facility, the Group Sales and Marketing General Manager Michael Ian De Souza noted that Kenya will be the hub in East Africa region.
“The strategic geographic location of Kenya led us in choosing Kenya as the headquarters for East Africa. This is supported by the government effort to promote local manufacturing through the big four Agenda” He said. The firm is at an advanced stage for the local assembly opportunities for both Renault and Hyundai.
When fully operational it is set to revolutionize the industry and become a one-stop automotive hub. It will offer distribution and Retail of New vehicles and Aftersales services that include comprehensive Aftersales care. “We are pleased to bring a unique service experience to the automotive industry in Kenya. We provide high-end services to suit your unique automotive expectations, offering a surprise and delightful ownership experience” Michael adds. Among product offerings will include spare parts and accessory sales and full valet services.
Product offerings will primarily be from the Hyundai and Renault stable, which include the Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai H1 Van and the Hyundai H100. From the Renault stable; Renault Kwid, Renault Kwid Climber, Renault Triber, Renault Duster, Renault Kangoo and the Renault Koleos.
In a bold move to capitalize on local manufacturing agenda, the company has initiated plans for a Dream Centre. “Our Education and Training strategy, i.e. Dream Centre, focused around Hyundai and in strong collaboration with the National Industrial Training Authority, NITA, and will develop skills for our local talent and youth in the automotive technology sector.” Michael potends
