The death toll from the Kilifi cult has increased to 89 after six more victims, including a child, were discovered in a grave on Tuesday afternoon in a forest.

29 survivors have been found in the sizable 800-acre forest, according to Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, and are now receiving medical attention.

The exhumation is currently ongoing even as Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki visited the scene.

It is believed some of his devotees could still be hiding in the bush around Shakahola, which was raided by police earlier this month after a tip-off from a local non-profit group.

The area area of woodland has been declared a crime scene as teams clad in overalls search for more burial sites and possible cult survivors.
