In a postponed game played on Wednesday at Ruaraka Grounds, defending champion Tusker defeated visiting Wazito 2-0 to move to the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League rankings.
After 12 minutes, Eric Otieno gave the brewers the lead before Lwarence Luvanda assured Tusker would head into the half leading 2-0 with a goal in the 27th.
With both teams having played 25 games, the victory put Brewers at the top of the standings with 54 points, one point ahead of the record local Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
Robert Matano, the team’s head coach, was guarded about his side’s title aspirations this season despite the victory.
“We played well, but fatigue also had a part to play, even though we already had the three points. We are league champions, and maintaining that position is our goal” stated Matano.
