Equity Bank has appointed Gerald Warui as the new Managing Director replacing Polycarp Igathe who has quit from the Bank to return to Vivo Energy. Mr Warui, a long serving banker has been serving as director of operations and customer service prior to this appointment. He now becomes the fourth Managing Director at the Bank.
“To ensure a smooth transition of operations, Mr Igathe will hand over his duties to Mr Warui before his departure at the end of August.” The lender said in a statement.
Upon his return to Vivo energy in August, Igathe will take up the post of Vice President for Sales and Marketing in Africa.
“The Board thanks Mr. Igathe for his dedicated and impactful service to Equity and wishes him well in his new role with one of the Equity’s most valued partners and look forward to deepening the existing relationship across the continent,” said the statement
Warui has served Equity Bank for more than two decades. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is also a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K), and a graduate of Advanced Management Programme offered by IESE Business School, Barcelona, Spain.
