Earlier today IEBC disqualified businessman come politician Jimmy Wanjigi from vying for presidency for august 9 general election. Wanjigi who was running for presidency under Safina party presented his papers today at Bomas to be cleared as one of the candidates for august 9 election.
Wafula Chebukati who is the chairman of IEBC and also the returning officer for presidential elections declined to clear Wanjigi after he failed to present physical copy of his degree certificate, he also failed to gunner the requisite number of signatures required by IEBC to be cleared to run for presidency. according IEBC signatures from 23 out of 24 counties were accepted, meaning he fail short of signatures from one county.
speaking to the media, Wanjigi is still positive that his name will on ballot box come August 9 and they are going to pursue all the avenues possible including going to court.
