The Kenya National Union of Teacher (KNUT) secretary Mr. Collins Oyuu has told the teachers to support the Azimio la Umoja coalition saying that teachers must be in government.
Mr.Oyuu who was speaking during the Migori county KNUT annual general meeting at Asar Johnson primary school said every teacher has the right to belong to any political party or coalition of his or choice but he feels that Azimio la Umoja is the best coalition for the teacher.
The KNUT secretary general said teachers must always support the government and by virtue that president Kenyatta is in the Azimio la Umoja coalition, they are also in the same coalition with the president.
Mr.Oyu who indicated that he is a life member of ODM party said the teachers cannot fight the working government adding that the union will always be on the side of the government.
Meanwhile the KNUT secretary general also wants the Teachers service commission to address the issue of medical cover for the teachers which has been a concern for a very long time.
Mr.Oyuu said many teachers are not able to access medical services because some of the health facilities contracted by Aon Minet no longer offer the services to the teachers after their contracts ended.
He said the teachers must get value for their money and therefore urged the government to address the issues which have been raised by the teachers regarding the medical cover as soon as possible.
