Zain Manji has claimed the third leg of Safaricom Golf Tour after returning 41 stableford points. The event held at Muthaiga golf club attracted over 200 participants.
Playing off a handicap of 19, Manji returned a total of 19 stableford points in the first nine and 22 on the second nine, totalling an impressive 41 points
“Getting an opportunity to feature in the third leg of Safaricom Golf Tour and emerging the overall winner in such a tough course gives me pleasure and great hope in my future golfing career. It is indeed heart-warming to get a chance to compete with the best of the tournament. I believe it will give me an opportunity to learn and gain more skills and experience.” Said Zain Manji.
Mr. Manji joins former caddie Cyprian Bundi and the 15-year-old, junior Golfer Leo Gitonga, winners of the first and second leg respectively of the ongoing Safaricom Golf Tour. Bundi scored 39 points while Gitonga 45 points at Nanyuki and Limuru respectively to secure slots in the Grand Finale of the tour to be held at Vipingo Ridge in August.
Meanwhile, Fuward Abdallah scored 39 points to emerge as the winner of the Men’s Category. In the Ladies’ Category, Lucy Njoroge posted 40 points to claim the top spot, ahead of Mary Wainaina who scored 39 points.
In the Longest Drive challenge, Hill Kip and Bernice Ng’inja were the stars in the men and ladies’ categories respectively. Meanwhile Lee Mungai clinched the Safaricom Staff Prize after garnering 39 points ahead of his team member Collins Too who scored 38 points.
Over 250 junior golfers are expected to take part in today’s junior tournament which will also be proceeded by junior golf clinic at the facility.
After Muthaiga, the tournament heads to Nyanza Golf Club on March 26th-27th 2022, before proceeding to the Machakos Golf Club.
