Screening intensified in Kisumu

Governor Anyang' Nyong'o announces rigorous screening at its borders.

Kisumu County Government has intensified screening at its borders following 7 positive cases to Corona virus in the neighboring Siaya County.

Governor Anyang Nyong’o says the screening will be intense at Ahero junction to capture everybody travelling from Nairobi into Kisumu.

Nyong’o says the seven cases found in Siaya are people who had travelled from Nairobi through Kisumu to Siaya.

He says the county has 250 thermo guns which will help in screening every visitor into the lakeside city to cushion locals from contracting the virus.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Nyong’o says his administration is doing everything possible to keep its people safe though continuous public awareness on the measures to be taken to prevent the virus.

He thanked the private sector for joining hands with his government in procurement of thermo guns to scale up screenings at the border points.

Nyong’o says Migori County too is posing a threat to Kisumu County sine many people use panya routes to reach Kisumu.

He announced that in the last two months, health officials have managed to screen over 600,000 people at the borders.
