The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is hunting for former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga after two weapons and more than 90 rolls of bhang were allegedly discovered at a Nakuru property linked to him.
DCI said in a statement on Monday night that the materials were discovered during a raid at Ngomongo village in Dundori ward, where eight suspects aged 37 to 54 were apprehended.
Officers say they also found three rounds of ammunition hidden in one of the home’s rooms.
“One of the recovered firearms was a homemade pistol capable of firing, while the other was a Tokarev whose serial number had been defaced,” DCI stated.
According to the Mohamed Amin-led directorate, Njenga eluded the police dragnet during the investigation.
“Any information on the whereabouts of the ex-Mungiki leader who has since gone into hiding could be volunteered through the #FichuakwaDCI anonymous hotline 0800 722 203,” DCI said.
