Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia will today be facing Tunisia’s Esperance in Caf Champions League in the first around to be held in Machakos stadium at 3pm East African Time.
Gor mahia’s sensational striker Meddie Kagere said the team was optimistic and was ready to face their opponents making good use of the created chances while avoiding simple mistakes that could cost them.
“we will be playing against a team that is good and has been in the champions league competition for many years.We are ready for them and we will make good use of our chances while avoiding simple mistakes that can cost us the game.It is a game of chances and we have what it takes to get good results” said Kagere
The last time these two teams met in 2014 Esperance won on aggregate of 8-2 in the first round of the competition.Esperance had won the first leg 3-2 in Nairobi and a 5-0 win of Gor at home.Kogalo will be looking to re-written history by defeating Esperance again just like when they played against Esperance in 1987 and won the CAF Champs finals that saw them lift the title.
Gor mahia’s Coach Dylan Kerr said he was out to prove that his team had what it takes to compete at the championships.
“It is another big game for us and that is because we are a big team and gives us yet another opportunity to prove to everybody that we have what it takes to compete at this level,” said Kerr
In an effort to show support Nairobi Senator has hired 10 buses that will ferry Gor Mahia supporters to Machakos for the Confederation of African Football match against Tunisia’s Esperance.The buses will leave Jevanjee Gardens in Nairobi’s Central Business District at exactly 11am.
