Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama on Tuesday opened the Nyamira County Revenue Management Workshop at Borabu Inn, Nyamira Town.
The revenue management workshop aims to address issues dealing with county revenue enhancement gaps, revenue classification, recording, trend analysis and forecasting, revenue automation and various legislations dealing with revenue collection.
Other than senior county government of Nyamira officials, the meeting was also attended by Nyagarama’s deputy Amos Nyaribo, Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Hon Moffat Teya, Leader of Majority Hon Duke Masira, Chairman of County Assembly Budget Committee Onyinka , Bogichora MCA George Abuga, Gesima MCA Maroko, Itibo MCA Nyanchama, nominated MCA James Onyancha and Nyamaiya MCA Laban Masira.
During the meeting, Teya promised that the County Assembly was ready to pass legislation which will help the executive in enhancing revenue collection and management.
The Governor said the county will put in place adequate revenue management policies and legislations, automate revenue collection, adopt a centralized revenue payment point and adopt a cashless payment system.
The County will also provide adequate facilitation for revenue collectors, provide incentives to revenue collectors, establish a revenue agency, create a special enforcement unit attached to revenue directorate and carry out capacity building of revenue collectors.
