Beginning on Monday (23/04/2018)through to Friday(27/04/2018) the fifth annual devolution conference will be taking place in Kakamega county.
All the 47 counties will be in Kakamega for the fifth devolution conference .The conference is expecting over 6,000 participants , where the conferenceĀ will also highlight how the county development plan can be incorporated into the national agenda.

Also the forum will focus on the gains made by the 47 county governments, which are constitutionally mandated to ensure that service delivery in the counties.
President Kenyatta is expected to officially open the conference on Tuesday morning ,while on Wednesday former prime minister Raila Odinga will be the main guest and on Thursday deputy president William Ruto will be the main guest.
The president will beĀ a panellist in the high-level engagement on intergovernmental relations, together with Chief Justice David Maraga, Speakers Justin Muturi and Ken Lusaka, Council of Governors Chairman Josphat Nanok and UK High Commissioner and chair, Devolution Donor Working Group, Nic Hailey.
Kakamega county Governor Mr,Oparanya was is high spirits as he spoke to the media ahead of the conference where he said he had done his best in the preparation and that this year’s forum would focus on Kakamega county being the host.
“This Devolution Conference will shine the focus on Kakamega County as President Uhuru Kenyatta, senior government officials and delegates will be attending. We have done our best to give our town a facelift and improve on the facilities to accommodate the visitors,” said Mr Oparanya.
