Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) in Homa Bay County are condemning the lose they have incurred over theft and vandalism in the region worth Ksh 200 million
According to the County Business Manager Alex Amboko, they have lost 20 transformers within one year and suspecting this vandalism and theft are done by cartels who know how to do fixing of electricity wires,adding that if transformers are lost people lose a lot more so the business community who depend on source of electricity to earn their day to day living.
Speaking to the press in Homa Bay town, , Amboko also noted that there are people who are now out stealing and selling electricity prepaid meters which have been installed in the business premises, and for that urged the public not to accept or buy any meters which are not issued by KPLC.
However, he called upon the national and county government officials to ensure that they settled their bills in time, saying these officers now owe KPLC more than ksh. 200million as dues of unpaid bills.
