Youth must be involved in planning and decision making to ensure there views are captured and implemented.
This was said by Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Prof. Margaret Kobia who was represented by the Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh during the launch of the Kenya National Youth Mainstreaming Strategy at the Kenya School of Government.
The CS added that the civil service has an aged population which will go for retirement in the next few years and that youth must be acquire the relevant skills to enable them take up the positions.
The Youth mainstreaming workshop brings together youth from the East African region.
The Commonwealth secretariat head of social policy division Mr Layne Robinson called on empowernment of youth officer across board to enable them deliver on their mandate in ensuring youth issues are properly addressed.
The workshop has participant from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.
